Two Awards to start the year off

Here I am with my two winning entries to the SWPP 2012 photographer of the year competition.I have just received received a double merit award in the baby and children section of the SWPP ( Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) 2012international print competition.

This competition is the biggest I have entered and attracts entrants from around the globe the competition is judged by some of the worlds best photographers and I was delighted that two of the handful of photographs in children and baby section to receive merit awards were mine. My winning entries have just been returned after being displayed at the SWPP convention in London
to over 15,000 attendees.
The photo shows me with the two prints. One is a location portrait taken down by the river Thames on a very foggy morning with four cousins, although the conditions were difficult the children were great and the session led to some very atmospheric images this was one of my favourites from the shoot, I am so pleased that the judges agreed. The second image is totally different, a monotone print of a father and baby taken at a studio session this is one of my choice photographs that I absolutely love it is great that the judges liked this picture so much as well.

Molesey Carnival

2011 Molesey Carnival was a little smaller this year. What the Carnival lacked in terms of quantity was made up for by the quality of the costumes and floats a fantastic display really enjoyed by the 100s of spectators lining the route. A tremendous day well done to the committee. A good day for 3rd Molesey Scouts group the band sounded very good a smart turn out. I helped out a bit at the Tea tent toward the end of the day, we had a great team of volunteers this year thank you everyone who helped out and also those that baked cakes a great selection enjoyed by the many visitors to the Tea tent. Together with the other stalls, archery, cocanut Shy, Cub plant sales over a £1000 was raised for the Scouts. See more photographs at http://www.phototed.co.uk/page53a.html

May day celebrations took place in Walton by the river on the 1st May, and were organised by the RCSherriff Trust who asked me to take photographs of the days events it was great fun.

Children from across Elmbridge made masks and joined in a spectacular parade along the river Thames tow path they were then treated to a display of traditional Morris dancing and live music.

After the parade children participated in may pole dancing followed by a delightful concert from the promenade choir with a mixture of traditional folk songs and stage hits.

In the afternoon children from Chandlers Field School, Bell Farm School, Groveland's School and Cleves School gave performances of traditional folk dancing.

The day finished off with dancing to a live folk band with everyone present a fantastic way to celebrate May day.

More photographs of the days events can be found at www.phototed.co.uk under the galleries section (will be posted this week)

For Red Nose Day award winning portrait photographer Ted Palmer took photographs of the youngsters and mums at Toddle Tumble soft play centre based in the Pavilion at Molesey Football Club, Walton Road, West Molesey. Users of the play group posed and could purchase photographs on the day by donating to comic relief. The time, materials and use of equipment was donated by Ted Palmer so all donations went to the appeal. In the 2-3 hours spent at the play group on Friday afternoon £110 was raised. Thank you to all the mums, children and staff at Toddle Tumble that contributed to this successful fundraising event.
